Girls Junior Varsity Softball sweeps DH from Waterford Kettering, 12-1 and 11-1

Eagles Win: 12 - 1
Last Tuesday, May 11th the JV Softball team competed against Waterford Kettering JV and took home two wins. Game 1: Lakeland Eagles JV defeated Waterford Kettering JV 12-1. Allison Day earned the victory for Lakeland Eagles JV going three innings, allowing one run on one hit and striking out three.  Emily Day threw two innings out of the bullpen in relief.  Lakeland racked up 12 hits in the game with Parker Ostach, Maddy Kaspor, Day and Kyra Mears managing multiple hits.  Game 2: Lakeland Eagles JV defeated Waterford Kettering JV 11-1. Ostach drove in six on three hits to lead the Eagles past Kettering 11-1 on Tuesday. Ostach drove in runs on a dingle in the first, a home run in the second and a double in the fifth. In the second inning Lakeland scored four runs with Mia McDonald leading with a single, Ostach hitting a home run and Kaspor putting the ball in play. Allison Day took the win for Lakeland surrendering zero runs on one hit over four innings, striking out three and walking one.  Emily Day started the game for Lakeland going one inning, surrendering one run on two hits and walking zero. Lakeland collected nine hits with Ostach, Maddie Borders, and McDonald all managing multiple hits.

  Monday, May 10th the JV Softball team competed against Linden and took home two wins. Game 1: Lakeland Eagles JV defeated Linden 3-1. Lakeland Eagles JV got on the board in the first inning with a sacrifice bunt from Borders to score the first run. Lakeland scored two runs in the third inning with Kyra Mears getting a home run on a 2-0 count scoring two runs. Allison Day pitched Lakeland Eagles JV to victory surrendering one run on four hits over seven innings. She struck out five and walked one. Lakeland had nine hits with Madeline Borders and Nathalie Hagle having multiples each. Game 2: Lakeland Eagles JV defeated Linden 11-10. Lakeland Eagles JV built an eight run lead in the third inning and then held off Linden's charge for an 11-10 victory. Lakeland pulled away for good with ten runs in the third inning. Parker Ostach singled on a 0-1 count scoring one run, Borders singled on the first pitch scoring one run. Mia McDonald doubled on the first of the at bat, scoring two runs, Maddy Kaspor laid down a sacrifice bunt allowing another run to score.  Ostach had a solo home run in the third inning.  Borders and Ostach had multiple hits for Lakeland. Emily Day started on the pitchers mound lasting two innings and  Allison Day came in for the last three innings, allowing one run on two hits and striking out six.

Friday, May 7th the JV Softball team competed against Walled Lake Central, defeating the Vikings 10-1 in the only game that made it through the weather. Game 1: Lakeland Eagles JV defeated Walled Lake Central 10-1.  Lakeland got things rolling in the first inning when Nathalie Hagle drove in one on a single. Lakeland scored six runs in the third inning with Kyra Mears, Emily Day, Maddy Kaspor, Hagle, and Parker Ostach all contributing with RBI's. Kellie Mueller earned the win for Lakeland on the mound, going 5 innings allowing one run a nd one hit, striking out five.  Eagles ended the game with 11 hits. Hagle, Day, and Ostach all collected multiple hits and Hagle had three hits in four at bats. Lakeland stayed tuff playing through the rain and hail storm for the win! Game 2: Cancelled due to rain and hail.

Tuesday, May 4th the JV Softball team competed against Stoney Creek taking home 2 wins (10-0 and 12-2) Game 1: Lakeland Eagles JV defeated Stoney Creek 10-0. Allison Day earned the win for Lakeland on the mound allowing zero runs and two hits over six innings, striking out 11.  Lakeland JV notched four runs in the sixth inning with Nathalie Hagle and Parker Ostach both driving in runs during the inning and having multiple hits through the game. Lakeland collected nine hits leading them to the victory. Game 2: Lakeland Eagles JV defeated Stoney Creek knocking in nine runs in the third inning.  Mia McDonald singled on a 2-2 count scoring two runs, Maddy Kaspor singled on a 2-1 count scoring one run, Hagle singled on a 1-2 count scoring one run, Kyra Mears doubled on a 1-2 count scoring one run, and Kidder singled on a 1-1 count scoring two runs in a 2 out rally.  Kellie Mueller earned the win for Lakeland on the mound lasting five innings, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out 11.  Mears, Emily Day, Hagle, and Kaspor had multiple hits through the game.

Monday, May 3rd the JV Softball team competed against Howell, taking home 2 wins (11-4, 8-7) Game 1: Lakeland Eagles JV defeated Howell 11-4.  Lakeland Eagles JV secured the victory with six runs in the sixth inning. Lakeland's big bats in the inning were led by Kyra Mears, Nathalie Hagle, Kaylee Phillipon and Madeline Kaspor. Parker Ostach picked up four hits and lead Lakeland to the win with a single in the first and third, home run in the fifth and a single in the sixth. Lakeland's Phillipon was the winning pitcher surrendering four runs on five hits over the seven innings, striking out four. Lakeland Eagles JV tallied 11 hits with Ostach and Hagle managing multiple hits for the team.  Game 2: Lakeland Eagles JV defeated Howell in a close game 8-7.  Lakeland Eagles JV took the game in dramatic walk off with Gianna Kidder up to bat. The game was tied at seven with Lakeland batting in the bottom of the fifth when an error scored a run. Lakeland put up four runs in the fourth inning with Maddie Borders, Mears, and Emily Day all contributing with RBI's. Phillipon was the winning pitcher for Lakeland going four innings, allowing four runs on two hits, striking out three and walking one. Ostach had a home run in the fifth inning bringing in runs to tie the game.

Saturday, the JV Softball team competed in Anchor Bay tournament; the Eagles went 2-1 on the day Game 1: Lakeland Eagles JV took their first loss of the season against Dakota. The Lakeland Eagles JV struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively giving up 12 runs. Nathalie Hagle and Emily Day each collected on hit to lead Lakeland Eagles JV. Kaylee Phillipon pitched five innings allowing eleven hits and seven strikeouts. Game 2: Lakeland Eagles JV defeated North Branch 4-2. E.Day, Kyra Mears, Madeline Kaspor, and Maddie Borders all had one hit to lead Lakeland Eagles JV. Hagle pitched six innings, allowing seven hits and had six strikeouts. Game 3: Lakeland Eagles JV defeated Richmond 13-1. Lakeland Eagles JV scored four runs in the fourth inning. Hagle, Phillipon, Borders and Mia McDonald all powered the inning with RBI's. Phillipon was on the mound for Lakeland lasting five innings, allowing three hits and one run, while striking out five and walking one. Lakeland racked up 15 hits on the day. Phillipon, Hagle, McDonald and Borders all had multiple hits.
Early Season Result: Girls Junior Varsity Softball sweep DH against South Lyon East

Eagles Win: 20 - 10
In a doubleheader from earlier in the season, the JV Softball team swept a doubleheader against South Lyone East. In the first game, Lakeland Eagles JV held on to defeat South Lyon East 20-10 in six innings.  Lakeland jumped out to a 10-0 lead, Mia McDonald opened up the game with a grand slam in the second inning.  McDonald went 3 for 3 with 5 RBI's.  Kyra Mears went 3 for 4 and drove in 4.  Emma Benton, Maddie Borders, Emily Day, and Maddy Kaspor all had multiple hits for the Eagles.  Kaylee Philippon went 6 innings for the win.  Philippon gave up 12 hits and struck out 4. In-game two, South Lyon East got off to a quick start, putting up two in the first.  Lakeland responded with three in the bottom of the first. Emma Benton and Maddy Kaspor had multiple hits in the game. Kaspor drove in two RBI's.  Allison Day was on the mound for the win.  Day went 5 innings, giving up 2 hits.

Monday, April 26th the JV Softball team competed against Clarkston and defeated them in 2 games 10-0 and 14-2 Game 1: Lakeland Eagles JV notched five runs in the fourth inning. Lakeland Eagles JV offense in the inning was led by Gianna Kidder, Madeline Kaspor, Maddie Borders and Nathalie Hagle all sending runners across the plate with RBI's in the inning. Kaylee Phillipon earned the victory in the pitchers circle for Lakeland Eagles JV. She went four and two-thrids innings, allowing zero runs on two hits, striking out seven and walking zero.  Lakeland Eagles JV smacked one home run on the day by Kaspor in the fourth inning. Borders went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Lakeland Eagles JV in hits. Game 2: Lakeland Eagles JV defeated Clarkston JV 14-2 thanks to eight runs in the first inning. Hagle, Parker Ostach, Phillipon, Allison Day, Kidder and Emma Benton each had RBI's in the big inning.  Lakeland Eagles fired up the offense in the first inning. Hagle doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.  Day got the win for Lakeland Eagles JV. She went five innings, allowing two runs on one hit and striking out nine. Lakeland Eagles JV collected ten hits on the day. Ostach, Phillipon, Day and Hagle each collected multiple hits for Lakeland Eagles JV. Ostach lead Lakeland Eagles JV with three hits in four at bats.

Saturday, April 24th the JV Softball team competed in their first 2021 Softball Invitational - Lake Orion Softball Invitational and took home the 2021 Champion JV-A trophy! Game 1 Lakeland Eagles JV Defeats Lake Orion; 12-6: Lakeland Eagles JV grabbed an early lead. Lakeland Eagles JV scored on a double by Parker Ostach, a single by Nathalie Hagle and a wild pitch during Madi Nelson's at bat in the first inning. Ostach drove in five on three hits to lead the Lakeland Eagles JV past Lake Orion 12-6 on Saturday. Ostach drove in runs on a double in the first, a single in the second and a double in the third. Kellie Mueller earned the win for Lakeland Eagles JV. The pitcher allowed six hits and six runs over three innings, striking out four. Allison Day threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Lakeland Eagles JV tallied four runs in the third inning. McKenna Finnegan and Ostach powered the big inning with RBI's. They racked up nine hits. Ostach and Finnegan each managed multiple hits for Lakeland Eagles JV. Lakeland Eagles JV stole 12 bases during the game as four players stole more than one, Mears led the way with three. Game 2 Lakeland Eagles JV Defeats Oxford; 15-0: Lakeland Eagles JV secured the victory thanks to 11 runs in the first inning. Lakeland Eagles JV big bats were led by McKenna Finnegan, Mia McDonald, Jenna White, Mueller, Madeline Kaspor and Ostach, who all drove in runs. Allison Day pitched the Lakeland Eagles JV to victory. She didn't allow a single run against Oxford, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Lakeland Eagles JV to a 15-0 victory by surrendering zero runs on two hits over three innings, striking out seven. Lakeland Eagles JV collected 12 hits. White, Mueller, Ostach, and Kaspor all had multiple hits for Lakeland Eagles JV. Kaspor, Ostach, Mueller and White each collected two hits for to lead the Lakeland Eagles JV. Game 3 Lakeland Eagles JV Defeats Sterling Heights Stephenson ; 23-0: Mueller didn't allow a single run against Sterling Heights Stevenson, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Lakeland Eagles JV to a 23-0 victory. Lakeland Eagles JV was boosted by Ostach who went 4-for-5 at the plate. Ostach singled in the first, singled in the fourth, doubled in the fourth and singled in the fifth. Lakeland Eagles JV tallied ten runs in the fifth inning. McDonald, Kaspor, Emma Benton, Ostach, Hagle and Finnegan all drove in runs in the frame. Mueller led the Lakeland Eagles JV to victory in the pitchers circle. The ace surrendered zero runs on two hits over five innings, striking out five. Lakeland Eagles JV collected 19 hits on the day. Ostach, Maddie Borders, Gianna Kidder, Kaspor and McDonald all managed multiple hits for Lakeland Eagles JV. Borders and Ostach each collected four hits to lead Lakeland Eagles JV.

Friday, April 23rd the JV Softball team competed against Davison and defeated them in 2 games 9-0 and 9-5. Game 1: Allison Day threw a gem on Friday for Lakeland Eagles JV, allowing zero runs and beating Davison 9-0. Lakeland Eagles JV got things moving in the second inning, when Kyra Mears doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.. Lakeland Eagles JV tallied three runs in the fifth inning. Lakeland Eagles JV scored its runs on a home run by Parker Ostach. Allison Day was the winning pitcher, lasting seven innings, allowing four hits and zero runs while striking out 11 and walking one. Lakeland Eagles JV socked two home runs on the day. Mears went deep in the sixth inning and Ostach put on out in the fifth inning. Lakeland Eagles scattered 14 hits in the game. Madeline Kaspor, Day, Mears, Ostach, Maddie Borders and Emma Benton all managed multiple hits for Lakeland Eagles JV. Game 2: In the first inning, Lakeland Eagles JV got their offense started when Parker Ostach singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run. Lakeland Eagles JV put up five runs in the third inning. Lakeland Eagles JV batters contributing to the big inning included Mears, Mia McDonald, Madi Nelson, Gianna Kidder and Kaspor, all knocking in runs in the inning. Kellie Mueller earned the win for Lakeland Eagles JV. The hurler went five innings, allowing five runs on eight hits, striking out four and walking zero. Lakeland Eagles JV totaled 12 hits in the game. Ostach, Nelson and Kaspor each racked up multiple hits for Lakeland Eagles JV. Ostach led Lakeland Eagles JV with three hits in four at bats.

Friday, April 16th the JV Softball team competed against Lake Orion. The JV team defeated Lake Orion in 2 games 8-3 and 14-2. In the first game, Lakeland JV got things started in the first inning. Lakeland Eagles JV took the lead for good with one run in the the third inning. In the third Kyra Mears singled on a 3-1 count, scorning one run. Kellie Mueller was the winning pitcher lasting six innings, allowing eight hits and three runs while striking our nine and walking zero. Lakeland Eagles JV tallied ten hits with Mueller, Maddy Kaspor and Allison Day all managing multiple hits. Lakeland Eagles JV tore up the base paths, as four players stole at least two bases, with Emma Benton leading the way with three. In the second game Lakeland JV fired up the offense in the first inning. Allison Day drove in four on two hits to lead the Eagles past Lake Orion 14-2, she drove in runs on a single in the first and a double in the second. Maddie Borders grounded out into a double play but still was able to knock in a run. Allison Day was the winning pitcher going four innings, allowing two runs on two hits and striking out nine. Lakeland Eagles JV totaled eight hits in the game. Allison Day, Emma Benton, and Kellie Mueller each managed multiple hits. Lakeland Eagles JV had 13 stolen bases with Gianna Kidder leading the way with three.

Friday, April 9th, the JV Softball team competed against Brighton for the first games of the 2021 season.  The JV team defeated Brighton in 2 games 16-1 and 12-2. In the first game Lakeland JV racked up 16 hits.  In the first inning Hagle drove in one run on a single. In second inning, Parker Ostach, Madeline Kaspor, Kyra Mears and Maddie Borders collected multiple hits for Lakeland Eagles JV's biggest inning of the game. Lakeland Eagles JV stole 11 bases during the game. Allison Day earned the victory on the mound, she surrendered one run on four hits over five innings, striking out seven. In the second game, Lakeland JV scored five runs in the third inning. Lakeland Eagles JV's big bats in the inning led to a 12-2 win. There were multiple hits with Nathalie Hagle, Kaspor and Borders leading the way and Ostach had a long ball home run in the first inning. Kellie Mueller earned the victory on the mound, allowing six hits and two runs over five innings, striking out nine.
