Girls Varsity Basketball executes game plan, defeats West Bloomfield, 48-45; Eagles move on to District Finals
Girls Varsity BasketballWednesday, March 4th, the Girls Varsity Basketball team secured a huge win over West Bloomfield in the MHSAA District Semi-Finals, defeating last year's State Semi-Finalist, 48-45.The Eagles executed their defensive game plan nearly to perfection, with Peyton Baer playing a pivotal role in containing the Lakers' star player for most of the game. On offense, Aubrin Miller had a massive 3rd quarter, draining four 3-pointers to help the Eagles build a double-digit lead. With her second long-range bucket, Aubrin became the first Girls Basketball player to surpass 1,000 career points.Lakeland had additional offense from Claire Linen (7 pts), while Baer, Alyssa Goldman, and Anna Linen each finished with 4 points.The Eagles, currently 15-8 for the season, will take on Orchard Lake St. Mary's in the District Final this Friday at 6pm on their home court.

Reed sisters compete in MHSAA Bowling Individual State Finals
Girls Varsity BowlingMonday, March 2nd, the Girls Varsity Bowling team had 3 individuals competing in that portion of the State Finals: Kaitlyn Reed, Madison Reed, and Savannah Reed. Kaitlyn and Savannah both tied for 12th in the qualifying round, moving on to bracket play. Both lost their opening match, with Savannah losing to the eventual state champion from Utica. Full results

Girls Varsity Bowling makes it to semi-finals at the MHSAA State Championships
Girls Varsity BowlingSunday, March 1st, the Girls Bowling team competed in the MHSAA State Finals. During the team competition, the Girls team made it to the semi-finals (final four) of bracket play, losing a very competitive 3-2 series against Rockford, the #1-ranked team heading into the event. The Eagles won the first two games by a total of 4 pins, lost the next two, and then were clipped by 4 pins in the decisive game. Rockford ended up losing in the finals to Caledonia, the #2-ranked team in the state. The Girls proved they were one of the top teams in Michigan for the 2025-2026 season.Girls team results

Girls Varsity SnowboardingFriday, February 27th, the Girls Snowboard Cross team competed in the State Finals. The Eagles finished 4th overall. Congratulations goes the senior Kate Hanneman who placed 1st overall in the individual competition, thus earning the honor being a State Champion. Kate was consistently the top girls rider all season and has had an amazing four years of success as a competitive Snowboard Cross athlete.

Girls Varsity BasketballFriday, February 27th, the Girls Varsity Basketball team ended its regular season schedule with an exciting 45-43 overtime victory against a solid Hartland team.Aubrin Miller knocked down six 3-pointers and the game-winning free throws as part of her 30-point performance. Peyton Baer and Claire Linen each added 5 points, while Alyssa Goldman scored 3 points and Haley Aberlich contributed 2 points.The Eagles improve to14-8 on the season. Girls Varsity GymnasticsSaturday, February 28th, the Huron Valley United Gymnastics team had a great day at the MHSAA Regional meet, placing 2nd with a season high score of 142.675, thus advancing to the State Finals! The team trailed only Farmington United who narrowly beat them out with a 143.5. Grosse Pointe United 3rd with a 135.875.Individually, there will be 7 gymnasts representing Huron Valley United.In the Division 1 category, Milford senior Tatum Langley placed 5th on beam and 4th on floor. Lakeland freshman Reagan Skaglin placed 3rd on vault, 8th on bars, 7th on beam, 3rd on floor and 5th all-around. Boys Varsity WrestlingSaturday, February 21st, the Varsity Wrestling team had 5 wrestlers compete at the Regional 1-1 tournament held at Clarkston High School for a chance to advance onto the Individual State Championship at Ford Field in 2 weeks. Competing against some of the best teams in the region, the team dropped some tough matches ending the outstanding seasons for 4 of the Eagles. At 132 lbs, Caden Azzato earned a 4th place finish notching a spot in the 16-person field at the State Finals held at Ford Field March 6-7.

Girls Junior Varsity Basketball defeats Walled Lake Central, 29-22
Girls Junior Varsity BasketballThursday, February 19th, the Girls JV Basketball team traveled to Walled Lake Central to wrap up the conference portion of the season schedule, and the Eagles earned a 29-22 victory. The first quarter was very up tempo and entertaining. The Vikings shot well from the outside while the Eagles scored more from the inside and the free throw line. Hayden Pawlak was able to score multiple fast break baskets while Haley Hewitt was able to go 2-2 from the free throw line. Payton Gignac was able to score from both as Lakeland kept pace with Walled Lake Central 9-9 after one quarter. The Eagles adjusted in the second quarter not allowing any more open outside looks for the Vikings as they were only able to muster 2 free throws. Girls Junior Varsity BasketballMonday, February 16th, the Girls JV Basketball team hosted Birmingham Seaholm for a non- conference game during winter break. The Eagles came out with great defensive energy picking the Maples up full, ¾ court and half court during the first quarter. Hayden Pawlak made two free throws early, which was the only score until the very end of the quarter when the Maples tied it up 2-2. In the second quarter the Maples woke up making 5 field goals and 5 free throws as they were just a little bit quicker than the Eagles’ defense. Annika Chinavare and Morgan Ross were able to get on the scoresheet, but Lakeland went into halftime down 17-5. Lakeland’s solid defense returned in the third quarter only allowing 4 points giving them a chance to cut into the 12-point halftime deficit. Girls Junior Varsity BasketballThursday, February 12th, the Girls JV Basketball team hosted South Lyon in the Aux gym to kick off the last LVC showcase of the year. Both the Eagles and Lions came out quickly on the offensive end scoring 9 field goals in the quarter. The Eagles were able to get to the basket for 4 layups and put backs by Hayden Pawlak, Scholastica Usen and Hayley Hewitt keeping it close at 8-11 after one quarter. The second quarter was completely owned by Lakeland. Their defensive effort kept South Lyon out of the paint and off the scoreboard for the entire quarter. The Eagles shot very well from the free throw line with Annika Chinavare and Pawlak going 4-5. Usen also contributed a field goal to allow Lakeland to take a 16-11 lead at the half. The game started out very close with both teams scoring from the field but coming up empty from the free throw line. Morgan Ross, Hayden Pawlak, and Scholastica Usen scored in the quarter to keep the game tied 6-6 after the first quarter. Lakeland started pulling away in the second quarter, outscoring the Warriors by five, taking a 17-12 lead going into halftime. The Eagles played well in the first quarter keeping the game close only being down 4 points behind a basket by Scholastica Usen. The second quarter lacked flow with both teams attempting 13 free throws. Lauren Burgess, Annika Chinavare and Hayden Pawlak scored for Lakeland in the quarter, but South Lyon East was able to extend their lead to 17-9 at halftime. Girls Junior Varsity BasketballTuesday February 3, the Girls Junior Varsity Basketball team traveled down Bogie Lake Road to visit the Knights of Walled Lake Northern.The Eagles came out vs. the Knights 2-3 zone defense scoring 5 points in the first quarter on a Payton Gignac three point shot and a Jaylyn Rhines layup leading to a 5-2 lead after the first quarter. Meredith Peterson and Anna Linen named as MHSAA Scholar-Athlete Finalists
The Lakeland Athletic Department is very proud to announce that two senior student-athletes have been named as Finalists for the Michigan High School Athletic Association Scholar-Athlete Award for the 2025-2026 school year.Meredith Peterson and Anna Linen are two of the 120 finalists selected from a group of 1,438 nominees/applicants.Meredith is 4-year member of the Softball program. Besides Softball, Meredith is an exceptional scholar involved with numerous extracurricular groups at Lakeland. As a senior, she and a classmate started LHS Sideline Scoop, a social media platform that showcases Lakeland athletes. Anna, an International Academy West student, is a 4-year participant of the Girls Golf and Girls Basketball programs. As a golfer, she was part of Lakeland's most successful team ever this past fall. Andre Neumann sets new Indoor Shot Put record; Neumann and Kelsey Williams take 1st Place in shot put
Today, senior Andre Neumann and junior Kelsey Williams competed in an Indoor Track and Field meet held at Saginaw Valley State University, both taking 1st Place in the shot put.Neumann, competing for only the 3rd time indoors, set a new school record for the indoor shot put, heaving one 58' 7". The previous record distance set in 1981 was 55' 5 3/4". Neumann adds this school record to the two outdoor throwing records (shot put and discus) that he already owns.Williams had a throw of 34'4" to win her event. Lakeland hires Mark Wolter as new Boys Golf coach
Lakeland HS is proud to announce the hiring of Mark Wolter as the school’s new Boys Golf head coach.Wolter joins Lakeland after serving as head coach at Cheryl Stockwell High School. In addition to golf, Wolter has coached a wide variety of youth sports, bringing a well-rounded and development-focused approach to athletics.A former multi-sport athlete, Wolter competed in golf, baseball, and football at Hillsdale College, where he developed a strong foundation in teamwork, discipline, and competitive excellence. Kaden Eller earns All-State honors in football; commits to Davenport University
Congratulations to senior Kaden Eller, an offensive lineman on the football team, who recently was named Division 2 1st Team All-State by the Detroit Free Press. Kaden also earned 2nd Team All-State recognition by the Detroit News. All-State honors don't happen too often, so Kaden's achievement is pretty special.In addition, Kaden just this week announced his commitment to play football at Davenport University after receiving an offer during his recent visit.
