Results from May 25th: Boys Varsity Baseball sweeps doubleheader from South Lyon

Eagles Win: 4 - 2
In a doubleheader from May 25th, the Varsity Baseball team defeated South Lyon in both games. GM 1 LHS 4 SLyon 2 Tate Farquhar earned the win on the mound going 6 1/3 innings giving up one earned run. Kevin Krill has a three run home run while Trey Rowley added a solo home run. GM 2 LHS 9 SLyon 2 Matthew Hanneman earned the win on the mound. Dom Slone had a two run home run and scored three runs while Nolan Hull, Tyler Moore and Kevin Krill each had hits. The wins move the Eagles record to 29 - 4 overall, 19 - 1 in the LVC (as of May 25th).

In action from mid-May, the Varsity Baseball team beat Walled Lake Northern, 12-7. Gavin Meehan earned the win on the mound in relief giving the Eagles a gutsy 4 2/3 shutout innings. LHS pounded out 18 hits led by Kevin Krill who was 3 for 4 with 5 RBI including a home run. Tate Farquhar was 3 for 3 with a walk, Ryan Abray was 3 for 4 while Caden Duryea, Andrew Platt and Dom Slone each added two hits. The wins move the Eagles record to 25 - 3 overall, 16 - 1 in the LVC (as of May 18th).

Saturday, the Varsity Baseball team participated in the Livonia High School Baseball Showcase over the weekend, winning both of their games. GM 1 LHS 10 Chippewa Valley 2 Andrew Potter earned his first varsity win on the mound. Kevin Krill was 4 for 4 with 3 RBI, Tate Farquhar was 2 for 3 with 3 runs scored and Brandon Abray was 2 for 2 with an RBI. GM 2 LHS 13 Livonia Franklin 3 Dom Slone earned the victory on the mound. Caden Dureya and Mason Brown were each 2 for 3 with RBI while Kevin Krill, Matthew Hanneman, Brandon Abray and Jake Werth all had hits in the victory. The wins move the Eagles record to 17 - 1 overall and 9 - 0 in the LVC.

Eagles Win: 12 - 0
The Eagles traveled to Walled Lake Western on May 5th and swept a DH in LVC action. GM 1 LHS 12 WLW 0 Tate Farquhar threw a complete game shutout on the mound striking out 7 in the 6 inning mercy shortened contest. The Eagles banged out 16 hits including Andrew Platt, Kevin Krill, Nolan Hull each with three. Matthew Hanneman contributed with a double and 3 RBI. GM 2 LHS 5 WLW 0 Kyle Zavinsky (4 inn) and Matthew Hanneman (3 inn) combined for the shutout on the mound. Kevin Krill and Tate Farquhar each had two hits while Trey Rowley had a hit and RBI. LHS moves to 15 - 1 overall and 9 -0 in the LVC and are currently ranked #7 in the state in Division 1 per the latest MHSBCA poll.

Eagles Win: 12 - 2
Monday, the Varsity Baseball team hosted Canton in a non-league contest and came out on top by a score of 12 - 2 in the mercy-shortened contest. Dom Slone earned the victory on the mound. Andrew Platt and Matthew Hanneman paced the Eagles offense with Platt turning in a 3 for 4 performance and Hanneman going 2 for 3 including a two run home run, the first of his varsity career. Tate Farquhar, Kevin Krill, Gavin Meehan and Nolan Hull also contributed with hits while Caden Duryea also chipped in two RBI. The win moves the Eagles record to 13 -1 overall and 8 - 0 in the LVC. They next take the field at Walled Lake Western for a doubleheader on May 5th.

This past Saturday, the Varsity Baseball team had the unique experience of playing a game at Comerica Park, home of the Detroit Tigers. The game, part of the Detroit Tigers High School Baseball Showcase, featured the Eagles versus Holly. Lakeland earned a 10-6 victory as every available player played an inning in the field and/or had an at bat in the team victory. As few individual highlights included Tate Farquhar earning the win on the mound, Kyle Zavinsky had a hit and scored three runs, while Jake Werth, Kevin Krill, Gavin Meehan, Aiden Krause, Nolan Hull and Matthew Hanneman all had hits. The win moves the Eagles record to 12 - 1 overall and 8 - 0 in the LVC. They take on Canton in a non league contest at home on 5.3, first pitch 4:30pm.

Eagles Win: 13 - 10
In early season action, the Boys Varsity Baseball team defeated South Lyon East, 13-10, a game completed over two days. Ryan Abray earned the win on the mound in relief but it was Kyle Zavinsky who turned in the performance of the day going 6 2/3 in relief in an outstanding effort. Andrew Platt, Tate Farquhar, Kevin Krill, Matthew Hanneman and Nolan Hull all had three hits in the victory for the Eagles. Game three of the series was called due to darkness in the 3rd inning and may be completed at a later date. The win improved the Eagles record to 11 - 1 overall and 7 - 0 in the LVC (as of late April).

In early season action (late April), the Eagles defeated South Lyon East 4-3 in the first game of their three game Lakes Valley Conference series. Tate Farquhar earned the win on the hill going 6 innings striking out 6 South Lyon East hitters. Ryan Abray had two hits and scored three of the four LHS runs. Aiden Krause, Andrew Platt, Jake Held and Tyler Moore all had hits in the victory.

Eagles Win: 9 - 3
Lakeland Baseball traveled down state to Blissfield  and earned  Saturday non league doubleheader sweep. GM 1 LHS 9 Carelton Airport 3 LHS beat a Carelton Airport squad that finished ranked 1st in the final MHSBCA Division 2 poll of 2019, our last full year of high school baseball. Matthew Zaremba earned the win on the mound while Mason Brown and Dakota Schultz contributed quality innings. Tate Farquhar, Kvein Krill, Sebastian Girrbach, Nolan Hull and Ryan Abray all banged out hits in the victory. GM 2 LHS 4 Blissfield 0 LHS shoutout a Blissfield squad that is currently ranked #5 in Division 3 in the latest MHSBCA poll. Kyle Zavinsky earned the win on the mound with four shutout innings then Ryan Abray and Jake Held kept the Royals a bay to secure the shut out. Andrew Platt, Tate Farquhar, Kevin Krill, Matthew Hanneman, Gavin Meehan and Mason Brown all had hits in the victory. The wins move the Eagles to 9 - 1 on the season and 5 - 0 in the LVC. They next take the field on Monday 4/26 in a DH with South Lyon East and return home on Tuesday 4/27 for a single game to complete the series. Following that series the Eagles will be playing at Comerica Park on Saturday May 1st in the 3rd Annual High School Baseball Showcase.

In the second game of a doubleheader, the Varsity Baseball team completed a sweep of Waterford Mott, defeating the Corsairs, 12-4. Dom Slone earned the win on the mound going 4 innings while Matthew Hanneman threw the final 3 innings striking out 7 to preserve the win. Andrew Platt, Kevin Krill and Mason Brown were each 2 for 3 with RBI. Nine different hitters had base hits in the contest for the Eagles. The wins move the Eagles to 7 -1 on the season and 5 - 0 in the LVC.

In a game postponed from earlier in the week, the Varsity Baseball team defeated Waterford Mott, 12-0. Tate Farquhar threw a complete game NO HITTER facing the minimum of 15 hitters in the mercy shortened contest. Farquhar finished with 6 strikeouts and also had a hit and two walks on the day. Andrew Platt, Kevin Krill and Nolan Hull each had a hit while Matthew Hanneman had a bases loaded double resulting in 3 RBI.

Saturday, April 17th LHS hosted both Rochester Adams and Detroit Catholic Central in a DH at Eagle Park and came out on the right side in both games. GM 1 LHS 6 Rochester Adams 2 Mason Brown earned the win on the hill. Andrew Platt, Nolan Hull and Matthew Hanneman each had two hits while Caden Duryea had 2 RBI.

Eagles Win: 5 - 4
In the second game of a two-different-opponents double-header, the Varsity Baseball team beat Detroit Catholic Central 5-4 in dramatic walk-off fashion. Jake Held earned the win on the mound. Tyler Moore had a hit and Mason Brown had two hits including a walk off 2-RBI single in the bottom of the 7th to clinch the victory for the Eagles. The wins move the Eagles to 5 -1 on the season and 3 - 0 in the LVC. They return to LVC action on Tuesday in a home DH vs. Waterford Mott.

Eagles Lose: 2 - 3
Wednesday, a highly anticipated Varsity Baseball game played at Saline between two state-ranked teams did not disappoint as the game went down to the final at-bat with Saline eeking out the win, 3-2. Kyle Zavinsky turned in a quality start in his first varsity appearance on the mound going three innings and striking out 5. Caden Duryea had two hits including a solo home run in the 5th. Andrew Platt and Kevin Krill each added two hits. Tate Farquhar and Ryan Abray rounded out the score sheet with a hit a piece as well. The Eagles had their chance in with a two out rally in the top of the seventh when they loaded the bases before a strikeout ended the game. Lakeland next takes the field Friday and Saturday in a three game LVC series vs. MHS.

Tuesday, the Varsity Baseball hosted Walled Lake Central for its home opener, and after finishing a game delayed by darkness from the previous day, the Eagles posted a 10-0 shutout of the Vikings. Caden Duryea earned the win on the mound going four innings with four strikeouts in the 5 inning mercy-shortened contest. Nolan Hull had two hits and two RBI and Brandon Abray added a sac fly RBI in his first varsity at bat.

The Varsity Baseball team opened up the 2021 season with a 2-game sweep over Walled Lake Central at WLC on Monday. GM 1 April 12 at WLC LHS 11 WLC 0 Tate Farquhar and Ryan Abray combined for a season opening NO HITTER is in the 6 inning mercy shortened contest. Caden Duryea and Matthew Hanneman each had two hits and Andrew Platt added a hit and an RBI. GM 2 April 12 at WLC LHS 12 WLC 2 Don Slone picked up the win on the mound striking out three batters in his four innings of work. Kevin Krill, Mason Brown and Andrew Platt each had two hits while Tate Farquhar drew three walks and scored three runs in the mercy shortened contest.
