This past Friday night, the Girls Basketball program hosted Waterford Kettering.

At the Varsity level, the team competed throughout the game, battling until the final minute of action before falling to the visitors, 36-34.

The Eagles jumped out to a 14-6 1st quarter lead before the Captains rallied back behind a couple of long-range 3-pointers. At halftime and after three quarters, Lakeland trailed by 1 point. In the 4th quarter, a see-saw battle emerged with both teams hitting shots only to see the other team respond. In the end, a couple free throws by Kettering in the final minute provided the margin of victory.

Sophomore Molly Libby had 13 points, including three baskets from the arc. Sophomore Grace Goodnough (8 points), sophomore Summer Ambler (6 points), sophomore Payton Grange (5 points), and junior Navaeh Garcia (2 points) also scored.

The program will be in action again this Wednesday (not Tuesday as originally-scheduled) as it hosts Walled Lake Western. It will be Senior Night, and the program will honor Ally Lengers and Josey Bruce.
