The M1 United Griffins (consisting of students from Berkley and other schools) handed the Boys Varsity Hockey team its  first loss of the season on Friday in a 2-0 affair.   In an evenly matched game the 5-3-1 Griffins took advantage of defensive breakdowns in the first period to notch the only goals of game.  

Coach Tim Ronayne "Well we were not ready to play in the first and they were.   We told our guys they would be fired up based on our record and M1 certainly were all that and more.  They had a spark and we were flat."

The Eagles had their chances but the pucks did not find the net.   The Griffins clamped down on the Eagles' several powerplay opportunities with unselfish shot blocking.

Coach Ronayne "These are good games for us to play.   It helps find our weaknesses and learn from our mistakes.  Our guys responded in the final two periods so we'll take that positive finish and build on it."

 

Next, the 7-1 Eagles will play Walled Lake Western at the KVIH 2/27
