Wednesday, the Girls Golf team completed its 2022 season by finishing 8th at the MHSAA Regional tournament held at Metamora Country Club. Lakeland shot 415 for the 18-hole event. Senior Gretchen Ullrich finished her career by posting a solid 86 for the event, just 3 strokes outside of the top 10 individuals. Freshman Aubrin Miller posted a 105, senior Abby Deloney shot 112, and sophomore Sophia Saad also carded a 112 to round out the scoring for the Eagles. Sophomore Madeline Hannewald, Lakeland's 5th golfer, finished with a 122 for the round. Lakeland concludes its season with a 3-4 dual match record in the LVC, good for 4th place overall in the Conference.

Last week, the Golf program competed in the Post-LVC Tournament, the final event on the LVC schedule. The Varsity team finished 4th overall, shooting 445 for the 18-hole event. Senior Gretchen Ullrich led the Eagles with a 106, and clinched All-Conference honors for her efforts throughout the entire season. With the season winding down, the Girls Golf program hosted the Lakeland Varsity Invitational at Hartland Glen, an 18-hole event which gave younger players the opportunity to compete in a varsity event. Monday, the Girls Golf team completed the LVC head-to-head portion of its schedule with a match against Walled Lake Western. In less than ideal conditions, WLW narrowly edged Lakeland, 204-206. It was a special match nonetheless because it marked the final home match for seniors Abby Deloney and Gretchen Ullrich. Thursday, the Girls Golf program competed against South Lyon, one of the top 5 teams in the state. On South Lyon's home course, the Lions certainly played like one of the best teams, and the Eagles struggled, with the final score being South Lyon 169, Lakeland 212. Today, the Girls Golf team competed in the North Farmington Invite, an 18-hole event held at Glen Oaks Golf Course. In a highly competitive field, Lakeland finished 13th overall, posting a 4-person score of 380. Thursday, the Girls Varsity Golf team defeated Waterford Mott. In a rare occasion, the outcome of the match came down to the 5th score, which pushed the 201-201 match in the Eagles' favor. Wednesday, the Girls Golf team competed in the Division 2 Oakland County tournament, an 18-hole event at The Links of Crystal Lake. The Eagles played well on a gorgeous day, finishing 4th overall by firing a combined score of 363. Gretchen Ullrich and Keira Snody led the Eagles, both posting 87 for the tournament. Aubrin Miller (94) and Sophia Saad (95) each carded their lowest 18-hole round scores as Lakeland golfers. Next up, the team will be hosting Waterford United on September 8th.

Last Thursday, the Girls Golf team had events at the Varsity and JV level. The Varsity team defeated Walled Lake Northern in a LVC dual match, 191-214 (lower score is better in golf). Gretchen Ullrich (44), Keira Snody (44), Aubrin Miller (51), and Sophia Saad (52) contributed to the final score. The team is 1-0 in dual meets so far. Yesterday, the Girls Golf program competed in the Pre-season LVC Tournament at Pontiac Country Club. The Varsity team finished 5th out of 8 teams, posting a 417 for the 18-hole event. The Eagles were led by Gretchen Ullrich (91), Keira Snody (107), Abby Deloney (109), and Sophia Saad (110). Madeline Hannewald and Aubrin Miller also competed for Lakeland. The JV group posted a 537 for the event. Ava Zavinsky, Megan Huberts, Khloe Spell, and Gabrielle Dziedzic contributed to the score. Today, the Varsity team competes against Walled Lake Northern in a LVC dual match, while the JV team is participating in the Hartland JV Invite.

Monday, the Girls Golf team competed in the Jim Sander Memorial, an 18-hole tournament held at Prestwick Country Club in honor of long-time Milford coach Jim Sander who passed away several years ago. The Eagles finished 5th overall with a score of 433. Yesterday, the Girls Golf team opened up its 2022 season, and for the first time in decades, they were under the guidance of a new coach. Chris Carlson took over for long-time coach Tom Milkovich who stepped down last year. On the course, the Eagles finished 11th at the Hartland Invite played at Hartland Glen. Lakeland posted a 394 (top 4 scores) for the 18 hole event.
