Tuesday, April 15th, the Boys Varsity Volleyball team paid a visit to Waterford Kettering, where they faced the Captains and the Knights of Walled Lake Northern. Lakeland had a chance to extend their undefeated run in the conference. The Eagles accomplished their goal decisively with two big victories, winning both matches in two sets.
First up, the Captains did what they could, but the more experienced Eagles came out ahead 25-13 and 25-19. The Eagles' depth was apparent, as a variety of players found time on the court. Next up, the WLN Knights gave it their best effort. The Eagles again displayed their dominance with the less experienced Knights, winning 25-8 and 25-9. Fisher Demarest and Tyler Buback were the players of the match. Both young men stood out with their performances. Tyler, the left hander, stacked up the kills from the opposite position, while Fisher used his height to dominate as the middle blocker.
Lakeland has a challenging week ahead, as they face two of the toughest teams this side of Lansing. On Monday, 4/21, the Eagles Varsity and JV teams travel to face Farmington High School on their home court. Thursday, 4/24, both Lakeland teams will be returning for their last regular season home matches. The visiting opponents will be North Farmington and Novi. The evening begins with Lakeland JV and Novi JV at 5pm. The varsity play begins at 6pm.
