On Tuesday, April 1st, the Boys Varsity Volleyball team hosted conference rivals Waterford Kettering and Walled Lake Western. At the home opener, the boys were still working out some kinks, but had a great showing. They were victorious in both matches. First up were the Kettering Captains. The Eagles flew over in two sets, winning 25-14 and 25-8. Jacob Valenton and Eli Yen served up the aces to lead the victory. Zach Dobrin led with setting assists for Harrison Vivier and Dennis Rozhko to snag a few kills each. Mark Choma picked up some solid blocks and kills to help carry the team to victory. Next up, were the Warriors from Walled Lake Western. The Warriors put up more of a fight, but the Eagles were too swift and won 25-18 and 25-11. Zach Dobrin again filled the assist sheet helping to feed his brother Jacob Dobrin, who led with 9 kills. The big middle blockers controlled the net. Harrison Vivier and Fisher Demarest stopped the ball from making its way back over. As expected, Eli Yen, Derek Varga, and Gabe Scott all contributed at critical times on offense and defense.
On Saturday 4/5, the Eagles will be joined by 16 Teams from around metro Detroit at the Eagles Invitational Tournament at Lakeland. Play begins at 8:30am.
The next conference match takes place at home on Tuesday, April 8th at 6pm. The Eagles will be facing co-conference leader Waterford Mott and Walled Lake Central. Be sure to come out to support the Eagles, as they fight for the top spot!
