Thursday, February 6th, the Girls Ski team put together enough good races to finish 3rd overall at the Divisional Championship held at Alpine Valley.

The Slalom event was a tough start for our girls not skiing to their full potential, but we battled enough to secure 4th place with 75 points, which put us just outside of SEMSL Championship qualification.
Here are the individual scores for the Lakeland Girls Ski Team (LHS) in the Slalom event at the Divisional Championship:
- Juliana Henry: 10th place, 58.29 seconds, contributing 10 points.
- Tori Jamieson: 13th place, 59.95 seconds, adding 13 points.
- Layla Kohr: 25th place, 1:05.04, with 25 points.
- Brighton Leder: 27th place, 1:06.23, contributing 27 points.
- Gwen Mazzara: 43rd place, 1:14.91, did not score.
- McKenzie Gallmore: 48th place, 1:21.51, did not score.
- Breslin Scott: 50th place, 1:24.48, did not score.
- Rachel Rosetti: Disqualified (DSQ) on the red run, did not score.
But our story didn't end there! In the Giant Slalom, our team made an incredible comeback, finishing 2nd with a total of 55 points. Here's how our girls performed:
- Giant Slalom:
- Tori Jamieson: 6th place, 42.60 seconds
- Breslin Scott: 15th place, 44.78 seconds
- Juliana Henry: 16th place, 44.82 seconds
- Brighton Leder: 18th place, 45.11 seconds
- Layla Kohr: 24th place, 46.12 seconds (did not score)
- Gwen Mazzara: 42nd place, 50.50 seconds (did not score)
- McKenzie Gallmore: 43rd place, 50.51 seconds (did not score)
- Addison Rozema: Did not finish (DNF)
This strong performance in the Giant Slalom, coupled with our earlier efforts in the Slalom, clinched us 3rd place overall at the Divisional Championship, with a combined score of 130 points over both events. And guess what? This qualifies us for the SEMSL Championships at Pine Knob later this month! 🏆
A huge shoutout to our team for showing what true grit and determination look like on the slopes. Special mentions to:
- Tori Jamieson for leading the charge in Giant Slalom
- Juliana Henry for her consistent excellence
- Layla Kohr for her senior leadership
- Breslin Scott and Brighton Leder for their significant contributions
