The Region 3 Ski Championship and qualifier for the State Final was Thursday at Alpine Valley. The Girls teams raced, starting the morning with slalom. The girls were on fire and in sync, finishing the morning slalom in 1st overall in the 13 team field with 54 points. The top four scoring slalom results for the girls came from freshman Molly Lynch taking 8th, junior Brooke White in 11th, senior Angela Salmeto came in 15th and senior Chloe Lynch in 20th. Close behind were our other two skiers, senior Autumn Christensen in 22nd and freshman Natalie Hoyer in 36th.

Our athletes came out after lunch for the GS race and again the girls were just a picture of determination and action! They were so solid and confident, it was awesome to watch! The girls also took first place in GS with a score of 41 points. The top racers for the girls were Brooke White with the bronze medal 3rd place, Chloe Lynch finished in the top ten with a 9th place, Molly Lynch came in 14th and Angela Salmeto finished 15th. 

Final scores were tallied and our girls with 95 points for the day took first place overall, claiming the Region 3 Championship. They are heading to the State Finals at Boyne Highlands on Feb 24, along with Zach Massey from the Boys team.  I am so proud of their determination and efforts against a very tough field of teams and racers. They represented Lakeland very well and with first class sportsmanship! And the girls who had some struggles during our regular season continued to improve and put it all together in amazing fashion for this week's races.
