Tuesday, the Girls Ski team took 1st place in the Lakes Valley Conference Championship meet held at Alpine Valley.

The slalom race was in the morning and the girls laid down some excellent runs, finishing first overall Top slalom racers for the girls were freshman Molly Lynch with the 3rd place bronze medal, junior Brooke White coming in 7th, senior Angela Salmeto taking 9th, and senior Chloe Lynch finishing 12th. That gave the girls 31 points heading into the afternoon. 

After lunch the team came out to race GS. The girls kept their momentum going and put down some solid runs for 2nd place in GS, just 2 points off the lead for a score of 30 points. The top GS racers for the Eagles were Brooke White with the 2nd place silver medal, Molly Lynch in 7th, Angela Salmeto in 9th and Chloe Lynch in 12th. Senior Autumn Christensen and freshman Mahana Gallmeyer also raced for the girls.

Final scores are tallied by adding the morning slalom points to the afternoon GS points for a team score. The Lakeland Girls Team came out on top of the 5 team field with an overall 61 points, edging out rival Milford who had 76 points. 

The teams head back to Alpine Valley Thursday for the Region 3 Championship, which determines who qualifies for the State Final at Boyne Highlands on Feb 24.
