Monday, May 5th, the Varsity Softball team swept a doubleheader from Milford, defeating the Mavericks 11-0 and 16-8.
Game One: 16-8 Lakeland win
Emily Searle collected 3 hits in five at bats as Lakeland defeated Milford 16-8. Searle singled in the third, fifth and seventh innings. After going down 5-0, Lakeland flipped the game in the fifth, scoring eight runs on eight hits. The biggest hit was Brynn Taliercio's 2-run triple.The Eagles tacked on six more runs in the seventh. Zoe Gagnon doubled, followed by singles by Paige Ambler, Melina Wing, and Seale. Ambler came on in relief of Wing to pick up the win in the circle.
Game Two: 11-0 Lakeland win
Lakeland won big over Milford in the nightcap by a score of 11-0. Noelle O'Dowd, Brynn Taliercio, Zoie Gagnon and Piper Huff all had two hits for the Eagles. Izzi Vacca, Alyssa Goldman, Zoie Gagnon, Emily Searle and O'Dowd each drove in two runs. Meredith Peterson went the distance in the circle, surrendering seven hits and no runs over 6 innings.
