Thursday, May 15th, the Girls Varsity Soccer team celebrated Senior Night as they hosted the Fenton Tigers.
The Eagles came onto the pitch determined, opening up the scoring six minutes into the match. Defender Olivia Wells sent a long ball up the field to Emery Collick who quickly found Hayden Schmidt in the box. Hayden split her defenders with two big touches before sinking the ball in the back of the net.
At halftime, we honored our seniors: captain Olivia Wells, captain Emery Collick, Savannah Herning, Leah Willis, Alana Tiernan, and Emily Williamson for their dedication to the team, the sport and LHS.
Seven minutes into the second half, the Eagles made another full field connection when goalkeeper Audrey Buehner sent a punt up to Breslin Scott who carried the ball up to the six yard box and sent a square pass into the box to the feet of Hayden Schmidt who one-touched it right past the keeper. One minute later Fenton brought the pressure and scored, narrowing the Eagles lead. The Tigers scored again off a free kick just outside the box with ten minutes left in play. The Eagles never let up, and created several more offensive chances, but in the end, the game concluded in a 2-2 draw.
Next Wednesday, May 21st at 6pm the Eagles will head to Hartland High School for the first round of district play.
