Girls Varsity Soccer clicks on all cylinders in 8-0 victory over Farmington; Breslin Scott scores 4 goals for the Eagles

On Friday, April 25th, the Girls Varsity Soccer team traveled to Farmington for a non-conference matchup in the pouring rain. Lakeland dominated the game from the very first whistle with smart passing, tough tackles, and hustling to win 50/50 balls. One minute into the game Cailyn Milewski sent a ball through two defenders to Hayden Schmidt who shot it into the back. The next goal came a few minutes later when Silvia Drap ran onto a rebound, controlling it and sinking it in the net. Seven minutes after that, Hayden Schmidt sent a pass to Geneva Willis who shot the ball directly into the net from 30 yards out. With 20 minutes left in the half, the Eagles earned a free kicks. Emily Williamson took the kick from 45 yards, placing it perfectly in the box to be tapped into the net by Breslin Scott. One minute later, Breslin Scott buried another shot in the net. The Eagles led 5-0 at the half.
In the second half Lakeland continued to play with intensity. Breslin Scott scored two more goals, both perfectly placed directly off of earned free kicks, bringing her game total to 4 goals. With 16 minutes left in play Leah Willis shot a long ball from 40 yards out that sailed into the back of the net to end the game early in a 8-0 mercy. Goalkeeper Audrey Buehner earned the shutout with the support of very strong defense from Emily Williamson, Lauren Burgess, Leah Willis, Geneva Willis, and Savannah Herning.
Looking to next week, the Eagles will host South Lyon on Tuesday, April 29th at 6pm and will travel to Walled Lake Central on Thursday, May 1st at 7pm.
