Huron Valley United 98 - 64 Pinckney
The Huron Valley United Boys Swim and Dive team was back on the road Thursday, January 16th, for the 1st of 4 straight road meets, traveling to Pinckney to swim the host Pirates.
The 200 Medley Relay of juniors Sam Campbell (Backstroke), Tommy Shaw (Butterfly) and Nick Marinescu (Freestyle) along with senior Brendan Marshall (Breaststroke) swam a new state qualifying time of 1:41.96. This ranks the team 9th in Oakland County this season and 10th in Division 1.
Campbell made his season Debut in the 200 Freestyle (1:46.04) and 100 Butterfly (53.40), winning both events in State Qualifying times that rank 9th and 6th overall in Division 1, respectively.
Marshall posted a season best, state qualifying time (2:04.89) with a win in the 200 Individual Medley and an unsuited personal best to win the 100 Backstroke (57.09)
Marinescu added to the 1st place tally with wins in the 50 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle, while Shaw added two personal bests in the 100 Butterfly (56.25 unsuited) and 100 Backstroke (1:01.24) while finishing runner up to his teammates in both events.
Athlete of the meet was freshman Thomas Kiebel who swam a 10 second personal best in the 200 Freestyle (2:04.41) and a nearly 4 second personal best in the 100 Freestyle (56.48)
The team turns its attention to LVC competition with its First LVC meet @ Walled Lake Northern on Thursday 1/23 @ 6pm vs both Walled Lake Northern and Waterford United
