Huron Valley United Boys Swim & Dive team defeats Lapeer, 95-62; Owen Lynar named Swimmer of the Meet

Huron Valley United Boys Swim and Dive results from Thursday, December 12th:
HVU 95 - 62 Lapeer
HVU 65 - 101 Midland Dow
The Boys Swim and Dive team traveled north Thursday afternoon to the Lapeer Community Center to kick off their season with a double dual against the host Lighting along with the visiting Midland Dow Chargers. The team prevailed against Lapeer, winning 95 to 62, and despite winning 5 events, fell to Dow's superior depth, losing 65 to 101.
Senior captain Brendan Marshall achieved a state qualifying time in the 100 Freestyle (49.15) leading off the 400 Free relay, while also qualifying for the MISCA Invitational and Oakland County with wins in the 200 Free (1:49.76) and 100 Fly (55.44). Junior Tommy Shaw also got in on the wins, touching first in the 50 Free (22.97) while also qualifying for the Oakland County and MISCA meet meets in the 100 fly (58.06). Marshall and Shaw teamed up with junior Nick Marinescu and freshman Thomas Kiebel to win the 200 Medley Relay (1:49.22) and the aforementioned 400 Free Relay (3:35.24).
Swimmer of the meet was senior Owen Lynar for his 20 second personal best in the 500 Freestyle! Great job Owen!!
The team is back in action this coming Tuesday 12/17, at home, against Troy Athens
