Saturday, February 1st, the Varsity Hockey team LHS played their second MIHL game vs. the Capital City Caps.  This time the teams were evenly matched and it turned into a gritty, grinding defensive battle.   Cap City scored first but late in the period Gavin Hewitt aggressively crashed low to keep the puck deep in the Caps' zone.   Adam Trzcinski picked up the puck and found Scanlon in the slot for the goal.

In the second period, fan favorite Joel Slicker went bar down for the game winner (Danielson and Kintz).   Scoring concluded but there was over a period of hockey remaining.  The teams traded punches but goalie Hunter Bennett and the Caps' goalie were stingy as the game finally wound down to a final face-off in the Eagle zone with 1.2 seconds on the clock.   Scanlon took the draw and ate the puck as the buzzer rang.   2-1 Eagles final.

Coach Ronayne:  "It is a big deal to play in the MIHL Showcase.  They pull great teams from all over the state so to go 2-0 says a ton about our boys.   The Cap City game was exactly what we needed - a boards to board battle for every inch of ice.   Hunter was acrobatic in net to keep them at just one goal."

On Wednesday your 17-5 Eagles travel to the Dort Center (widely known for its outstanding Cheese Nacho concession offerings) to take on Fenton/Lindon in their final LVC league game.  Game time 5 pm.
