Boys Varsity Ice Hockey continues its winning streak, defeating Petoskey, 3-2

Saturday, January 25th, the Varsity Hockey team was tested by the Petoskey Northmen, with the Eagles prevailing in a 3-2 thriller. Captain Bryce Martin fired a puck from the left circle then promptly gathered his own rebound and found Dell for an NHL Hitz worthy one-timer from the blue line. Later defenseman Gavin Hewitt, never shy about driving an opponent's net, charged the PHS crease and slammed home a back door pass from Scanlon (Dell). Finally Trzcinski scored yet another game winning goal courtesy of linemate Dell's passing prowess.
The game got spicy in the waning minutes as Slicker took a bone-jarring illegal hit at mid-ice drawing a two minute PP for Lakeland. Lakeland did not convert and Petoskey poured it on, getting several point blank chances as the penalty expired. Goalie Hunter Bennett was up to the challenge and kept the Northmen at bay for a long bus ride home.
Coach Ronayne: "We played well the first two periods and then let up and had to scramble. But a win is a win and we'll take it. Onward."
