Last night, the Varsity Hockey team defeated intra-rink rival Lakes Area United 9-0 in a spirited contest at the LIA.

Senior Fisher Christian kicked off the scoring for the Eagles with a thundering wrist shot off of a Luke Weinberger ultra clean face-off win. Just three minutes later sophomore Brennan Grant scored his first of three goals thanks to tenacious forechecking from Regan Voorhies and Mitchell Bellar who were both credited with assists on the play. Voorhies would get his second assist a few minutes later when Fisher Christian found junior Nate Behmlander on his way to the net and his first goal of the year. Senior Kyle Sierota finished off the scoring for the period (Weinberger and Christian).

Coach Ronayne: “We had a strong first period. It’s good to see guys getting points as a result of hard work. RV (Voorhies) has been working very hard on the forecheck all season. That doesn’t always show up on the scoresheet – but we see it day in and day out.”

The Eagles picked up the second where they left off with Grant putting in his second of the night from Weinberger and Bellar. Four minutes later Grant capped off his hattrick with a very pretty tip of a wobbling point shot from Dylan Huebner. The final three goals of the night were Weinberger unassisted, Sierota from Weinberger and Weinberger from Sierota and Huebner.
