Lakeland hockey (12-1-1) swept their season series with the WLCWU varsity program 9-1 on Sunday morning.  The first period was a battle during which Lakeland netted two goals - one on a slot wrister from Will Petersmark thanks to the first of three assists on the day from Junior Jacob Lewis.   For the second goal Fisher Christian stole a clearing pass in the United zone, walked the top of the left circle and blew a snap shot by the WCLWU goalie. 

The second period was similar to the first with Lakeland scoring twice - Luke Weinberger (Matthew Zaremba) and Spencer Pickett (Lewis).  WLCWU refused to quit and took advantage of a power play scramble in the crease to score their lone goal of the day to end the period at 4-1.

Head coach Tim Ronayne “The first two periods were tight and we didn’t like where we were sitting  to start the 3^rd.  If they get the next goal then it’s a 2 goal game and everything gets tight on our bench.  They had plenty of good opportunities and we know they can put goals on the board.  So we tried to light a fire under our guys.” 

The Eagles’ depth finally wore down United in the third period.  Lakeland scored five capped off by a final Owen Arnold snipe to end the contest.  League leading Weinberger got his second of the night with Cam Slicker, Kyle Sierota and Nick Hrobsky all contributing as well.

Freshman goalie Paul Baker turned back 13 of 14 shots for the win.
