Another LVC Championship to celebrate -- Baseball wins another conference trophy
LHS clinched the Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Championship for the fifth consecutive time yesterday beating Walled Lake Central 5 - 3 in the final LVC game of the year. After dropping Game 1 to WLC 14 - 4, the Eagles showed tremendous resilience, bouncing back to win Game 2 in front of what was a packed crowd at WLC. In what turned out to be the LVC Championship game, Jack Miller was masterful on the mound and was helped by some tremendous defense earning the win going 6 2/3 innings striking out 4. Joey Swartz earned the save on the mound striking out the WLC hitter that represented the tying run at the plate. Swartz was also 2 -2 with 3 RBI at the plate. Trey Rowley and Cam Chinavare each had a hit and an RBI while Corey Sanderson, Connor Demko and Fisher Bedini each chipped in hits.
As previously mentioned this makes five (5) LVC Baseball titles in a row but also makes in seven (7) years in a row the Eagles have won their conference or division dating back to the KLAA days (2016). The games yesterday moved the Eagles record to 26 - 9 overall and 19 - 5 in the LVC. They are currently ranked 8th in the state in the D1 division by three different polls.
