Thursday, February 27th, the Girls Junior Varsity team traveled to Walled Lake Western to close out the ‘24-’25 basketball season with a 51-19 win. Lakeland came out aggressive on both ends of the court. A full court zone press forced Walled Lake Western into numerous turnovers leading to many fast break points. The Eagles were also able to handle the Warriors 2-3 zone defense by moving the ball effectively and taking advantage of the middle of the zone leading to a 17-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter the Eagles played good half-court defense, but the Warriors caught fire from outside scoring all their 12 points from outside of the paint. Lakeland was able to keep pace scoring 13 in the quarter led by Gracie Grzymkowski’s 4-points taking a 30-12 lead into halftime. In the third quarter Lakeland continued to play well on both ends of the court helping each other on defense and being very unselfish on offence. Walled Lake Western’s hot shooting cooled off as the Eagles extended their lead to 40-15 at the end of the third quarter. The fourth quarter was like the third on both ends of the court leading to an Eagles victory 51-19.
