Thursday, February 13th, the Girls Junior Varsity team kicked off another conference showcase defeating Waterford United, 30-14.  Lakeland came out very aggressive on defense vs. the short-handed Waterford United team jumping right into full court pressure.  The Eagles switched between their normal ¾ court zone and a full court man defense.  These different defenses were successful in generating turnovers fueling the Eagles first half offence and a halftime lead of 23-5.  Coming out in the third quarter Lakeland fell back into a half court man defense that was able to continue to hold Waterford United in check.  This attention to detail on the defensive end allowed Lakeland to expand their lead in the second half by 2 points while working on half court offensive concepts.  At the end of the game Lakeland was able to improve to 2-0 vs. Waterford United winning 30-14.

Scoring Leaders:  Sammy McDonald led with 12 points, Alyssa Goldman contributed 6 points, Cloe Hrzich, Morgan Ross and Gracie Grzymkowski added 4 points each, Matilda Herron, and Melanie Hudspeth scored 2 points each.

Lakeland attempts double digit free throws:  (Lakeland: 4/11, 36%.      Waterford United: 3/4, 75%)

Lakeland improves to 13-5, 9-4 in the conference.
