Friday, January 31st, the Girls JV Basketball team traveled to Walled Lake Central, earning a physical win vs the Vikings, 40-19. Right from the opening tip both teams came out aggressive. The Eagles started out in their normal ¾ court press and man to man defense while the Vikings started in a physical man to man defense. The first quarter was very competitive with the Eagles holding a slim 9-8 lead. The game continued to get more physical in the second quarter and the Eagles took advantage making 7 of 8 free throws to expand their lead to 10, 23-13 going into the half. Coming out of halftime the Vikings switched to a 2-3 zone defense while the Eagles switched to a full court man to man defense. Lakeland rose to the challenge of the physicality and was able to wear down Walled Lake Central in the second half. The Eagles outscored the Vikings 17-6 in the second half to come out with a 40-19 win.
