Friday, the Girls Junior Varsity team traveled down the road to visit Walled Lake Northern for their second straight road game of the new year falling 18-33.  The first quarter of the game was well played with both teams finding success on the offensive end.  The Eagles were able to score against the Knights 1-3-1 zone by moving the ball and working together.  The Knights owned the offensive boards scoring on second chance opportunities.   After one quarter Walled Lake Northern held a 12-10 lead with Lakeland right in the game.  During the second quarter, the Knights switched from a full court press to a half-court man defense and were able to break the Eagles ¾ court pressure.  The combination of these things allowed the Knights to open up a 20-13 lead at the half. During the second half the Eagles continued to play with effort but generated limited success on the offensive end.    Walled Lake Northern continued to expand their lead each quarter – ultimately leading to the Eagles second loss of the year, 33-18.  The Eagles will look to even up the season series with the Knights at home on Friday 1/24.

Lakeland did a good job of getting to the FT Line.  (Lakeland 7/16, 44%.       WLN:  3/8, 38%)

Lakeland falls to 6-2, 3-1 in the conference.
