Tuesday, the Girls Junior Varsity team visited South Lyon East starting off the new year on the right foot with a 32-19 win.  Everyone looked a little rusty being the first game coming out of the break.  Both teams pressed the first quarter but were unable to generate much offense as the Eagles took at 4-2 lead after eight minutes.  Lakeland hit its stride in the second quarter forcing turnovers leading to several easy baskets.  These easy baskets fueled a 13-2 run during the quarter and a 13-point lead at halftime.   Coming out of halftime the Cougars caused problems for the Eagles by generating turnovers using a man-to-man full court press.  South Lyon East converted these turnovers into 10 third quarter points trimming the Eagles lead to 9 at the end of the quarter.  Lakeland regained control in the fourth quarter handling the Cougars pressure resulting in several open court scoring opportunities.  Overall, a good effort by Lakeland coming out of the break and improving to 6-1 overall for the season.

Lakeland improves to 6-1, 3-0 in the conference.
