Thursday, December 19th, the Girls JV Basketball team hosted Holly, kicking off the program's Senior Night with a 50-4 win. The Eagles came out with energy pressing full court causing issues for the Bronchos. Turnovers generated by the Eagles were the driving force behind a 16-point first quarter where 8 different players scored. The second quarter was more of the same for Lakeland this time applying the defensive pressure in a half court setting. Turnovers and rebounding fed another 16-point quarter and a 32-0 halftime lead. In the second half, the Eagles worked on running their half-court offense which led to a very nice back screen and cut for Gisselle Blaszczak for her first high school points. Overall, a very good effort by Lakeland as they improved to 5-1 for the season heading into the Christmas break.
Scoring Leaders: Morgan Dial (9), Jaylyn Rhines and Melanie Hudspeth (7), Gracie Grzymkowski (6), Cloe Hrzich and Morgan Ross (4). Gisselle Blaszczak, Melina Wing, Matilda Herron, Peyton Foote and Maddie Miles (2), Alyssa Goldman (1)
