Tuesday, December 17th, the Girls JV Basketball team traveled to Brighton and came up short, losing 54-15. The first quarter of the game was very well played with both teams applying full court pressure. The Eagles were able to handle the Bulldogs zone press by being patient and moving the ball which generated many open looks at the basket. Lakeland's full court man pressure was also able to generate several turnovers leading to scoring opportunities. After one quarter, Brighton held a 13-9 lead with Lakeland right in the game. During the second quarter, Brighton switched from a full court press to an aggressive half-court defense causing issues for the Lakeland offense. During the quarter, Lakeland was unable to score and saw Brighton’s lead expand to 20 (29-9). The second half was like the second quarter as the Eagles scored 6 points total. The Eagles fought hard to the end against a very good and deep Bulldogs team.
