Friday, December 13th, the Girls Junior Varsity Basketball team traveled to Waterford Kettering for their first away conference game of the year and earned a 37-19 win. Both teams came out slowly with Waterford holding a 3-2 lead early. The Eagles finally woke up using a full court man press to generate energy. Turnovers created by the press led to a 13-0 run the remainder of the quarter. This run saw 7 eagles score (Including Lily Wang’s first high school points) as Lakeland surged out to a 15-3 lead at the end of one quarter. Waterford showed heart in the second quarter hitting two more three pointers and outscoring Lakeland 10-5 to close the gap to 20-13 at halftime. Both teams struggled to find the range in the third quarter with Lakeland extending their lead outscoring Waterford 4-2 in the quarter. During the last period Lakeland again regained the intensity from the first quarter seeing five Eagles score including five from Melanie Hudspeth and two from Morgan Ross (first high school points). Lakeland outscored Waterford 13-4 putting the game out of reach.
