Thursday, November 7th, the Girls Varsity Volleyball team played South Lyon in the MHSAA District Final.  It was a classic battle between two teams looking to extend their seasons as the match went the full five sets.  In the end, it was South Lyon that prevailed, winning 3 sets to 2.

In the first set, South Lyon played mistake-free ball on its way to winning 25-18.  Lakeland responded, improving its performance and rallying from several points down as Payton Nelson served the Eagles to a 26-24 win.  South Lyon took the third set 25-21, forcing the Eagles to rally again.  In the fourth set, Lakeland was up 14-13 when Bridget Boughton went to the service line; 10 serves later, the Eagles were up 24-13, eventually winning 25-14.  

In the fifth and final set, South Lyon jumped out to an early 5-1 lead, and the Eagles were never really able to narrow the gap as the Lions went on to a 15-4 win.
