Huron Valley United Girls Swim & Dive team places 2nd at its Invitational

Last Friday and Saturday, Sept. 13-14th, the Huron Valley United Girls Swim and Dive team hosted its annual invitational, hosting teams from Novi, Berkley, Grand Blanc and Cass Tech. The team competed well in both the diving competition on Friday and throughout the swimming session on Saturday, taking 2nd place to a deep Novi team.
Highlighting the meet was senior captain Elle Dameworth who won her two individual events, the 200 Free and 100 Fly, while setting 5(!) meet records: 100 Fly (59.56), 50 Free (24.63, Relay Lead Off), 100 Free (53.13, Relay Lead off), 200 Free Relay (1:40.05) and 400 Free Relay (3:40.93). She was joined by 3 other seniors- Brooke Stec, Mya Hutchinson and Coral Hebert in the record setting effort in the sprint relay, which currently stands as the #3 time in D1 and #1 time in Oakland County. Dameworth, Stec and Hutchinson were joined by sophomore Annabelle Thompson to win the final relay of the meet, with their performance ranking #2 in D1 and #1 in Oakland County.
Freshman Maddy Kalinowski achieved the county Automatic time in the 50 Free, while Senior Lyida Henry dropped under the consideration standard in the 100 Free.
