Last Thursday, the Huron Valley United Girls Swim and Dive team hosted a talented South Lyon team for their most competitive dual meet of the season. It was a back and forth contest throughout the competition with the meet coming down to the final race. Ultimately, HVU fell just short, losing by a final score of 96-90.

There were a number of standout performances throughout the night. Sophomore Elle Dameworth won the 200 Freestyle in a new team record and state qualifying time, with teammates Mya Hutchinson and Kat Wieas taking 3rd and 4th in the event. Freshman Amelie Strickfaden swam a personal best to take 4th in the 200 IM along with Karolina Spiewak's 2nd place finish. In diving, freshmen Lola Beer and Kennedy Foote both posted personal best scores to finish 2nd and 4th. In the 200 Freestyle Relay, teams of Dameworth, Lydia Henry, Spiewak and Brooke Stec along with Coral Hebert, Olivia Schneider, Mallory Armstrong and Hutchinson took 1st and 2nd place in the event.

Athletes of the meet were senior Kayla Pletzer and sophomore Lydia Henry for stepping up and competing when other athletes had to drop out, thus giving us a chance to win the meet.

The team moves to 3-1 overall on the season and will be back in the pool this Thursday @ South Lyon East.
