Huron Valley United Girls Swim & Dive competes well, finishes 2nd at its own Huron Valley Invitational

Last weekend, the Huron Valley United Girls Swim & Dive team hosted the Huron Valley Invitational with the following teams competing: Novi, Clarkston, Troy, Hartland, and North Farmington. The team performed very well, taking 2nd place overall.

It was a competitive meet throughout the Friday (diving) and Saturday (swimming) competitions, with Huron Valley prevailing over Division 2 Ranked and OAA White favorites North Farmington but ultimately taking second overall to the deep roster of Novi.

Freshman Divers Lola Beer (3rd) and Kennedy Foote (8th) both medaled in the 11 dive competition with Lola's score of 274.80 being a new team record.

In the swimming competition, the team competed in every heat of every event, with 44 of 50 individual swims being season or personal best times. Heat winners and medalists included

Nora Spangler- 200 IM, 100 Backstroke

Kat Wieas- 500 Free

Peyton Millie- 100 Backstroke

Lydia Henry- 100 Backstroke

Coral Hebert's winning time in the 50 freestyle of 26.04 was a new meet record. This was matched by Elle Dameworth who also swam 26.04 leading off the 200 Freestyle relay team of Karolina Spiewak, Mallory Armstrong and Brooke Stec who as a relay also set a new meet record, winning the event in 1:44.65. Dameworth also set a new meet record in the 100 freestyle by leading off the 400 Freestyle relay with a time of 56.39 en route to a second place finish in that event.

The athlete of the meet was Freshman Amelie Strickfaden, who set a personal best in the 100 fly and the 500 freestyle, and stepped up when another athlete got sick to swim a 2 second personal best on the 400 Freestyle A relay to conclude the meet.

Huron Valley returns to competition at Waterford Kettering next week on Thursday 9/22 to start their conference schedule.
