Lakeland Girls' Swimming & Diving swam a nail biter against Walled Lake Northern Thursday evening.  The meet was back and forth from the beginning, and would not be decided until the final event as all such athletic endeavors should.

Stella Fairbanks ('20) lead Lakeland divers in a strong performance resulting a sweep of diving with Caitlin Davis ('19) and Abbey Cheminski ('21) finishing second and third.  Gianna Sulesky ('22) also dove well, finishing fifth.

Several swimmers also delivered several strong performances.  Kate Doyle ('19) and Paxton Moore ('22) combined to go 1-2 in the 200 and 500 Freestyles events while Peyton Michalski ('20) and Emily Dexter ('22) went 1-2 in 100 Freestyle. Additional victories were also earn by Elise McCaul ('22) in the 100 Butterfly while Elise, Paxton, Emily, and Kate combined to outtouch Northern by less than a second in 4 x 100 Freestyle Relay.

Lakeland also enjoy several second place finishes including Emily in the 50 Freestyle and Sydney Moore ('19) in the 100 Backstroke. Two additional second place finishes in the 4 x 50 Medley Relay [Sydney, Elise, Peyton, and Claire Enyeart ('21)] and the 4 x 50 Freestyle Relay [Emily, Emma Hahn ('20), Peyton, and Kate] assisted in keeping the meet close.

In the end, however, victory was not be as Walled Lake Northern edged Lakeland by a score of 94 to 92.  Lakeland Girls' Swimming and Diving will  be back in the pool next Thursday at South Lyon before returning home to host Milford, Hartland, and Farmington Unified in the 2018 Splash Against Your Class.
