Girls Varsity Cross Country finishes 9th at prestigious Portage Invite; Ava Alicandro medals with 14th place finish

On Saturday, October 5th, the Girls Cross Country team competed in the Portage Invite, an event that brings together almost every top team in Michigan (plus one from Illinois).
The Lakeland Varsity team placed 9th out of 39 teams. The ladies came in ahead of teams ranked #7,8, 9, and 10 in Michigan and came in behind teams ranked # 1,2,3,4,5,6, and11. So, the Eagles know where they stand as they continue to work toward improvement and the end of the season. Scoring finishers for Lakeland were Ava Alicandro (medal - 14th place), Maya Pletzer, Morgan Scally, Genevieve Conolly, and Alena Tiernan.
The JV team also had a great meet, finishing 12th. Gracie Grzmkowski earned a medal in 33rd place.
