Friday night, the Girls Varsity Basketball earned a physical win over Milford, defeating the Mavericks, 37-29.
The Eagles opened the game taking a 9-4 lead after the first quarter. But Milford went on a 9-2 run of its own to open the 2nd quarter, leading to a 16-16 tie at halftime. In the second half, Lakeland made plays at the right time, including a huge 3-pointer by Molly Marino to pad the Eagles' lead.
Marino finished with 8 points, Parker Ostach added 7 points, and Peyton Baer finished with 6 points. Skylar Halbrook, Brynn Taliercio, and Alena Tiernan also added 4 points each.
Lakeland is now 13-3, 9-2 in the LVC. The Eagles host South Lyon on Tuesday.
