WALLED LAKE NORTHERN HIGH SCHOOL: 25
Tuesday night, the Girls basketball team took on Walled Lake Northern in the Battle for Bogie Lake. The Eagles came out with a gritty 28-25 win in overtime to give the Knights their first loss on the season.
Lakeland was focused all game on the defensive end, led by the efforts of Molly Marino defensively. The Eagles jumped out to a lead early as they executed against the Knights pressure defense and held a 19-13 halftime lead. The second half was a struggle on the offensive end for the Eagles as the Knights eventually forced OT on a late 3 pointer. In OT, the Eagles hit some clutch free throws to win the game. Leading the way for the Eagles was Parker Ostach with 11 points, Skylar Halbrook with 9 points, and Aubrin Miller with 6 points.
The win moves the Eagles record to 3-2 (2-1 LVC) on the season and goes on the road to face Waterford Kettering on Friday night.
