On Saturday February 18th, three Lakeland wrestlers participated in the MHSAA Division 1 Region 1 individual wrestling tournament. Jake Law qualified for the state finals!
At 190 lbs, Jake Law finished in 4th place qualifying for the state championships.
After losing his first match, Jake beat Cooper Ostyn of Midland Dow 12-5. Then he beat Luca DeSanto of Birmingham Seaholm 7-3 to reach the 3rd place match. Jake then lost 6-3 to finish in 4th place in the region.
At 138 lbs, Mark Smith lost his first match to a returning state finalist and the regional champion. In his second match Mark lost 4-2 in overtime.
At 144 lbs, Seth Zimmerman lost his first match 4-3 and his second match 4-2.
The MHSAA Division 1 State championships will be held at Ford field on March 3-4.
