Thursday Sep 12th - Game 9 at Waterford Kettering

At Kettering, the game activities got underway quickly. The Captains were given an early yellow card for an unnecessary slide-tackle along the sideline and moments later earned a restart after an Eagles foul near midfield. On the restart the Eagles defense was unable to mark all the Captains in the box and an uncleared ball was put into the net after just 3 minutes of play. The teams settled in their game tactics and started moving the ball around the field. The Eagles created several chances with crosses and direct play, but could not get past an active goalkeeper. In the second half, Kettering implemented a very high defensive line and this created even more through ball opportunities for the Eagles and even caused the Captains' goalie to come out of his box and earn a yellow card for a hand ball 40 yards from goal. Unfortunately, despite many chances, none of the Eagles were able to get through the Kettering defense and score. Kettering did add two second half goals, one off a tough save from #1 Jay Hensley that bounced in favor of the opponents and another on a cross that found a Captain unmarked and able to make the final score 3-0.
