Tuesday Sep 10th - Game 8 home vs Walled Lake Western
After two games away, the Eagles returned home for a matchup against Walled Lake Western. This turned out to be a fast paced game with lots of end-to-end action and through ball over the defenses. Several close chances were had by both teams and #1 Jay Hensley stood tall in goal with several important saves. But the Warriors broke through after 14 minutes and took the 1-0 lead. The defenses kept working to prevent more close opportunities, but Warrior speed proved to be a little too much for a short-handed Eagles defense. Late in the first half, the Warriors added a hard shot inside the box across the goal to the side net.
Fourteen minutes into the second half, the Warriors added another goal. But with 9 minutes remaining #15 Ben Geromette was able to pull back one goal with a well-placed shot from twenty yards out. . The Eagles continued to pressure the Warrior defense until the end with lots of time in the final third of the field. Unfortunately, the boys were not able to get their spacing worked out and despite the additional possession time, no one else was able to add to the tally. The game ended at 3-1 in favor of Walled Lake Western.
