Thursday Sept 5th - Game 7 at Walled Lake Central
The Eagles headed down the road to Walled Lake Central for another tough physical matchup. In the first two and a half minutes, the Vikings took the lead after a defensive miscue forty yards from goal opened up the field and allowed a simple tap-in from a second streaking Walled Lake Central player. At the five minute mark, #8 Brock Vinter nearly countered off  #7 Jacob Dobrin's lofting corner kick to the back post, but it bounced off the crossbar. Seven minutes into the game, #3 Ian Waldman earned his second yellow card in as many games trying to prevent an easy Walled Lake Central breakaway. The restart resulted in a shot over the goal that was no threat to the keeper #1 Jay Hensley. The rest of the game saw a lot of end to end action with only a few chances against both stingy defenses. Walled Lake Central added a second goal with 2:30 left in the first half when the referee awarded a penalty kick on a tackle inside the box. After an Eagle injury timeout with a minute and a half left, WLC earned four nearly back to back corner kicks until the last one, with ten seconds left included #14 Thomas White holding a second ball while WLC played the corner kick into the box and scoring in the confusion. The referee allowed the goal indicating there was no impact by the second ball.
In the second half, the Vikings stifled the Eagles ball movements with double-teaming the ball, but once the ball moved it allowed a few connecting passes. Central added a fourth goal over the top, splitting two Eagle defenders and beating the goalie with an acrobatic finish. Finally, with two minutes remaining in the game, #20 Zach Dobrin provided an arching cross from the end-line across the goalie box to a waiting #8 Brock Vinter who was able to head in a goal to bring the score back to 4-1. And that is how it ended.
