Tuesday, September 3rd, the Boys Varsity Soccer team traveled to Waterford Mott and earned a 5-1 victory.

A visit to Mott is typically a physical game and this year was no exception with each team receiving 2 yellow cards.  Outside of that, the Eagles had solid control of the match. Their first goal came in the sixth minute when #10 Gabe Wright lined up a restart, twenty five yards from goal. He was able to avoid the wall, over the goalie and as his shot tapped the crossbar, before dropping over the goal line and into the back of the net. The second goal came off a corner kick earned by #11 Omar Bakdaleveh. He played a lofting ball into the box that Mott was unable to clear and #8 Brock  Vinter took advantage punching it into the net with a sliding kick. With fifteen minutes remaining in the half, Freshman #7 Jacob Dobrin placed a through ball cross from midfield at the feet of #21 Brady Humitz, who only needed a light touch before his shot beat the goalie for the 3-0 lead.

A couple minutes later, an unfortunate back pass from an Eagle defender didn't make it to the intended target, goalie #1 Jay Hensley and rolled into the goal for an own goal, making the score 3-1. But the Eagles bounced back with four minutes remaining in the first, when a long shot by Gabe was blocked out for a corner kick. #6 Joshua Lacsamana took a quick short corner to Omar who placed a cross to the back post where Brock was able to head in his second goal of the match. In the second half, Mott played a high back line and despite several opportunities, long balls over the top were being intercepted. That is until, with 29 minutes remaining, very similar to his assist in the first half, Jacob played a midfield cross over the top that found the feet of Gabe who needed a couple of touches to settle it before his shot past the diving Mott keeper. This brought the score to 5-1 and that is how it ended.
