Wednesday August 28th:  After a stormy afternoon that forced the JV game to be cancelled, the Boys Varsity Soccer team hosted South Lyon. The first 20 minutes of the game resulted in very few opportunities for either team. The Lions attacked repeatedly, but the Eagle defense was up to the task and kept the ball clear of the keeper box. After 26 minutes South Lyon lobbed a ball inside the six yard box and the wind carried it over the keeper's head and a Lion was able to push it in for their first goal. Two minutes later, a tackle at the top of the 18-yard box was deemed a foul and a penalty kick was awarded to South Lyon. They were able to convert and take the 2-0 lead.  

With five minutes left in the first half, #20 Zach Dobrin broke through the defense 20 yards out and was tripped from behind. This resulted in South Lyon's second yellow card of the game and a restart opportunity at close range. #10 Gabe Wright stepped up for the chance, but sent his shot just wide of the wall and the goal. In the second half, Gabe got a break away opportunity one-on-one with the goalie, unfortunately, his shot sailed over the crossbar. With 15 minutes remaining, a scramble of South Lyon attempts could not be cleared and one Lion player was able to get a clear shot away from our goalie to add the third insurance goal. In the final minutes the Eagles continued to work hard and move the ball up the field, but just could not connect enough passes in the field's final third. The game ended at 3-0 for South Lyon.
