On Tuesday, August 31st, the Boys Varsity Soccer team took on the South Lyon East Cougars in South Lyon.

The game got off to a hot start with several chances that the Eagles were unable to convert into goals. Fifteen minutes in, #12 Aidan Staup broke through on a well-struck ball giving the Eagles a 1-0 lead into halftime. The Cougars countered and evened the score after a few minutes in the second half. At the 23 min left mark, #3 Anthony Flevaris sacrificed his body pressuring the goalie at the edge of the 18-yard box and was rewarded with a deflection that rolled into the back of the net. With 7 minutes left, #7 Vassily Wade took advantage of a loose ball in front of the goal and scored his first goal on the season. Seconds later, SL East countered with a goal, bringing the score back to 3-2 Eagles lead. Lakeland held off continued pressure from the home team in the remaining time and was able to hold on for the 3-2 win.
