Boys Varsity Cross Country finishes 9th at MHSAA State Meet; 6 of 7 Eagles set new personal bests

This afternoon, the Boys Cross Country team placed 9th overall in the MHSAA State Meet held at Michigan International Speedway. Of Lakeland's seven runners, six set new personal bests in the race and the other had his 2nd-fastest time ever. The Eagles certainly rose to the occasion, peaking at the right time.
Junior Gavin Johns finished 50th overall with a new PR of 16:03.3. Senior Jacob Kosidlo was right behind him, finishing 53rd at 16:04. Seniors Matt Verellen (69th, 16:09), Ayden McDonald (73rd, 16:11.3), and Michael Nivala (131st, 16:32.9) rounded out the official scoring for Lakeland. Junior Brenden Humitz (148th, 16:41.3) and senior Gabe Mahler (211th, 17:11.8) also competed for the Eagles.
The Top 10 finish caps off another sterling season for Lakeland, which also won both the LVC dual meet and championship meet trophies this year.
