The Boys Varsity Basketball team showed that it has learned from previous games this season, fighting back from a 9-point deficit in the 2nd half to earn a come-from-behind road victory against Avondale, winning 47-43.

Andrew Turnquist and Nsikan Usen were forces in the paint, scoring a combined 38 points and grabbing 21 rebounds between them. But it was the Eagles’ resolve on defense that enabled the team to earn the victory. Lakeland held Avondale to 3 points in the final 8 minutes of the game, limiting their opponent to one difficult shot on most possessions.  That grit and defensive intensity, especially in the second half of games, has been a trademark of the team for a good part of the season.

The team gets right back on the court tonight as it hosts Waterford Kettering as part of Lakeland’s final home double-header showcase event with the Girls Varsity team.  The Girls will tip off at 5:30 and the Boys will tip off around 7:00pm.
