Last Friday, the Eagles lost a chippy contest in overtime to the Oxford Wildcats, 66-60. Lakeland battled foul trouble throughout the game, but some late-game clutch shooting nearly led to a victory.
Trailing in the final minute of play, Lakeland ran an inbounds play for sophomore Andrew Turnquist (16 points total) who responded with a critical 3-point bucket. Seconds later, down three points and with the ball, junior Andrew Platt hit an unbelievable double-clutch 3-pointer to send the game to overtime.
The overtime saw Turnquist hit another 3-pointer to give Lakeland the lead, but Oxford responded with some clutch shots as well, leading to the final score.
Senior Max Beagan contributed 10 points to the Lakeland effort.
The Boys Basketball program returns to action tonight at home against Walled Lake Western.
