Last night, the Boys Varsity Basketball team opened up the 2019-2020 campaign with an exciting 63-58 overtime victory at home against South Lyon East.

Senior David Jabiro, making his Lakeland debut, led the Eagles with 24 points.  Senior Austin Boughton added 20 points and 8 rebounds, including 2 points on a crowd-thrilling dunk.  Not to be forgotten, sophomore Caleb Zurek had a dunk on his own as part of a 7 points, 7 rebounds effort.  The game also featured the return to the court for senior Lucas Theaker who missed most of last season with a leg injury.  He had 1 point in his return.

Before the game, everyone in attendance, including both the boys and girls varsity basketball teams, participated in a moment of season to honor the memory of South Lyon East student-athlete Trevon Tyler who passed away suddenly during Thanksgiving break.

The Eagles have a few days off before getting back into action next Tuesday against Notre Dame Prep.
