In its last game in December, the Varsity Hockey team faced off against the Davison Cardinals, defeating them in convincing fashion, 2-0. The Eagles spent most of the night peppering the Davison goalie, accumulating 50 total shots for the game.
Paul Baker was tested several times throughout the night but turned back all 12 shots to notch the first shut-out of the season. Nate Behmlander (Kyle Sierota) scored early in the first and Sierota added a goal to his night, taking a breakout pass from Junior Elliot Smith all the way to the net and pitchforking the puck past the Davison tender. Coach Matt McElwee on the Sierota goal “It looked like an NHL goal. We feel that Kyle can make plays like that all game, every game.”
Lakeland has a layoff until January when they meet a very tough Clarkston team on the 6th.
