Even though it's summer, Lakeland still has students representing the school at competitions. Case in point, here's the lastest update from the Lakeland Anglers Fishing Team:
Unfortunately, only one of Lakeland's three teams could make it to Lake Muskegon last weekend for stop #3 on the Michigan Bassmasters Nation Youth Trail. 52 high school teams from across Michigan took part on the Holiday weekend. As they did in the first two tournaments of the year, the team of Mitch Porter and Chase Aaron remained steady by filling their bag on both days before 9:00 am and took the next 6 hours each day culling for bigger fish. Saturday's weather was as nice as one could hope for but similar to Higgins Lake, Sunday was a different story as thunderstorms and heavy rain moved in just in time for weigh-in. Results and AOY standings below...
Saturday 7/1
Mitch Porter/Chase Aaron - 14th place with a 5-fish total weight of 12.52 lbs.
Sunday 7/2
Mitch Porter/Chase Aaron - 9th place with a 5-fish total weight of 13.18 lbs.
AOY (Angler of the Year) standings after 3 tournaments (61 total teams):
Porter/Aaron - Saturday Trail - 12th, Sunday Trail - 11th
Rickard/Matt - Saturday Trail - 28th, Sunday Trail - 42nd
Yukins/Cormier- Saturday Trail - 40th
The Teams now will be focused on the State Championship in 6 weeks on Manistee Lake (August 12-13)
